At this year’s Science Saturday event hosted by Scripps Research, Senior Lab Director Mariane Melo and Postdoctoral Researcher Namit Chaudhary joined a campus-wide effort to spark scientific curiosity in the next generation. The 2025 event welcomed high school students from across San Diego for a full day of hands-on activities, lab tours, and mentorship opportunities designed to encourage young minds to explore careers in biomedical science.
Representing the Irvine Lab, Mariane and Namit participated in interactive sessions where students could ask questions, learn about current research, and get a glimpse into the day-to-day life of scientists working at the forefront of virology and immunology. Their presence helped bring research to life—demonstrating the impact of curiosity, persistence, and collaboration in building a future in STEM.
